Founded

Founded by doctors from Dosher Hospital and volunteers, the clinic began offering medical care in a single room at the Brunswick Community College Annex in Southport, serving 38 individuals in its first year.

1998

Growth

Expanded services with the help of community support, grants, and donations. Gradually grew the patient population and volunteer base.

2000's

Established an Onsite Pharmacy

In 2004, the clinic opened an onsite, licensed, limited pharmacy to improve access to essential medications.

2004

New Clinic Location

With the help of its donors, opened a new 4,000 sq. ft. facility in Boiling Spring Lakes, offering care five days a week to uninsured low income adults in Brunswick County.

2010

Added Onsite Optometry Care

Since 2011, the clinic has provided onsite optometry services, increasing access to vital eye care.

2011

Increased Dental Care Outreach

Expanded dental services to provide cleanings and fillings in addition to exams and extractions

2015

Medicaid

Began accepting Medicaid patients to expand access and provide high-quality healthcare to a broader base of underserved adults in Brunswick County.

2024

Wellness Wagon

Launched the Mobile Medical Program, which includes: The Wellness Wagon – a mobile healthcare clinic driving healthcare to communities across the county.

2025

Present Day

With a small staff and 100+ volunteers donating 6,000 hours annually, the clinic supports around 3,000 patient visits each year. In 2024, it delivered $2.5 million in services on a $728,000 budget.
